Can anyone tell me how to prepare wood for oil painting. I looked at him Internet and some sites say they have to prime it and apply plaster, some say that only applies plaster and then places say to use one of these methods all over the board and some say it only intends to draw of. Can anyone with personal experience / knowledge to give me a clear answer about what method to use how you got the type of gypsum / primer you use. I would also like to know what kind of Wood / Board is better use and not too expensive. I would really appretiate good answer - thanks

You must sand it back very fine, use about 400p sand paper. Then do a light coat and see how it turns out.
